About Us Originally founded in 1981 as Intermountain Administrators, the company's growth, expansion of services, and strategic direction led us to change our name to Allegiance Benefit Plan Management, Inc., on April 1, 2003. Changing our name was a way to put our service philosophy front and center. Our name, Allegiance, is a public statement that we are here to benefit you. Since its earliest days, our company has been a leader in providing health and flexible benefit plans to employer groups and plan participants throughout the American West. What We Do Allegiance Benefit Plan Management, Inc., develops and administers employee benefit plans for companies, associations and government agencies. Our highly-trained and experienced team of claims professionals, systems and benefits experts, nurses, attorneys, accountants and managers all take great pride in serving you well. While Allegiance's goal is to provide clients with the highest level of service, we know ultimately the products and services we administer serve the needs of individuals and their families. In all that we do, we realize that ours is indeed a business benefiting people. As a third-party administrator, we offer our clients the flexibility to contract with multiple preferred provider organizations, managed care organizations, physician hospital organizations, tertiary care centers of excellence, dental and vision plans, and stop-loss insurance carriers. We Share A Common Goal Allegiance works as an advocate for the groups we serve. We are able to safeguard your interests because we share a common goal - to provide your employees with the best healthcare coverage at the best cost. Rather than charging a monthly premium, Allegiance works on a capitated service fee that is based on the number of participants in a group. This type of fee structure means that our performance is measured by your satisfaction, not on the amount of premium that is charged, which provider network you use, or which medical procedures your plan covers. We work with you to determine the plan parameters that will best meet the needs of your employees. This gives groups the flexibility that traditional health plans cannot provide, while also freeing financial assets that had previously been used to pay premiums. You have the freedom to choose the best PPO network, managed care, stop-loss insurance, and other plan components that best suits the needs for your specific locale. Self-funded Plans Our products can be separated into two basic categories - self-funded benefit plans and flexible benefit plans. Self-funding began as a way for employers to reduce costs and exercise greater control over how health plans are defined and administered. A self-funding company decides upon a plan of benefits and a fund is established for coverage up to a predetermined loss level. Stop-loss insurance is available to protect the plan and employer against extreme losses. The most common self-insured plans cover medical care, dental benefits, short-term disability, and vision. Flexible Benefit Plans Allegiance was one of the first third-party administrators to offer comprehensive flexible benefit plans. Flex plans allow employees and/or employers to deposit pre-tax dollars into a flexible spending account to pay certain health-related expenses not covered by medical insurance. Sometimes referred to as "cafeteria plans," they let each employee elect an annual dollar amount and choose services to be covered from a menu including medical insurance premiums, out-of-pocket medical expenses, and dependent care expenses. Using pre-tax dollars can result in considerable tax savings for both the employer and employees.
